Fighting back against unprincipled collectors: Help is available

On Behalf of Bensley Law Offices, LLC | Sep 24, 2014 | Consumer Protection |

Unscrupulous debt collectors often act with cavalier disregard for the rights of the people they shamelessly pursue for money allegedly owed. Although there are strict rules — both state and federal enactments — that place limits on collection agency behaviors, collectors simply ignore those limitations in many instances.

Sometimes they need to reminded of their unprincipled actions and, when necessary, be aggressively confronted by a no-nonsense attorney who advocates with knowledge and passion on behalf of harassed consumers.

At Philadelphia-based Bensley Law Offices, LLC, our attorneys attend to that task with relish and strong knowledge of the subject area, with the firm having fought diligently for consumers and debtors for many years.

Our principal attorney, William Bensley, is a member of numerous consumer organizations. Mr. Bensley and his firm safeguard the rights of embattled consumers facing harassing — and sometimes illegal — tactics from banks, auto dealerships, health systems, pharmaceutical companies, collection agencies and additional entities seeking to extract money by virtually any means possible.

We simply think that is wrong. In fact, we find such conduct — abusive phone calls, legal threats, workplace contacts, erroneous or flatly fraudulent debt-related information, improper identification and similar behaviors — to be flatly egregious.

On many occasions, it transcends impropriety and is clearly illegal.

There are legal remedies for that, and consumers should take solace in knowing that they are far from powerless against collectors when they retain an experienced consumer rights’ attorney to fight back and invoke those remedies.

We invite readers to learn more about our firm. They can do so by visiting us online at our Philadelphia Consumer Law page. We welcome your visit.
