Ways in which a lawyer can help with credit issues

On Behalf of | Oct 23, 2015 | Consumer Protection

Readers are likely aware of the important role credit reports play in most peoples’ lives. Among other things, a poor credit score could make it difficult to secure loans for large purchases such as cars and homes. It could even impact your ability to get a job. Because of this it is important that when your credit report contains information that results in a lower score, action is taken to promptly resolve it. Residents of Philadelphia and the surrounding area may not know where to start with that or be aware that an attorney may be able to assist them.

There are multiple ways in which a lawyer could be of assistance in repairing credit. This is true whether the credit is low due to error or the inability to pay debt owed. For example, they may be able to negotiate with creditors to reach a settlement amount that is lower that what is owed. They may also be able to negotiate with credit reporting agencies when your credit report contains negative information. If a creditor sues to recover amounts it is owed, an attorney can also represent you in court. In addition, in some cases they may be able to look at your credit report and suggest other ways to improve your credit.

If you are facing issues with credit you may be feeling overwhelmed and unsure of where to start. Working with a lawyer who understands the credit reporting system can make it much easier to deal with the matter.
