10 cars that saw the most recalls from 2013 to 2017

On Behalf of | Jun 5, 2020 | Consumer Protection

Recalls are issued when cars that have already been produced and sold are found to have serious defects. In some cases, these just impact performance, but many recalls also involve safety. Either way, it means that the car is not up to the standard of quality that the consumer assumed it would be when they bought it.

As such, it can be helpful to take a look at the vehicles that get recalled the most. To keep from emphasizing one poor year for a specific model, it’s wise to look at recalls over a span of years. Doing so from 2013 to 2017 shows you that these vehicles were the top 10 most-recalled cars in America:

  • The Mercedes-Benz C-Class
  • The GMC Sierra
  • The BMW 3/4 Series
  • The Dodge Durango
  • The Nissan Pathfinder
  • The Ram Pickup
  • The Toyota 4Runner
  • The Dodge Charger
  • The Chrysler 300
  • The Chevrolet Tahoe

Does this mean that the cars on the list are not reliable? Not in every case. For instance, the reliability rating of the 4Runner is 5.0, a high rating, even though it gets recalled more than many other cars.

However, these recalls do raise questions about potential issues that consumers never expected and likely feel they did not deserve. When you buy a car, it’s a major investment. You expect a certain level of quality. If the manufacturer does not deliver, that is not fair to you and, in some cases, could even put you in danger. Make sure you are fully aware of all of the legal options that you have in this situation.
