Asbestos - Mesothelioma

Throat Cancer, Lung Cancer, Colorectal Cancer: Asbestos - Pleural Thickening

Many Americans have been exposed to toxic substances. I have represented many victims of toxic exposures from asbestos to lead to defective drugs such as Fen-Phen and Phenypropanolamine (PPA).

I have handled hundreds if not thousands of asbestos cases. I have had the privilege of representing bricklayers, laborers, painters, plumbers, and many other union workers throughout the great state of Pennsylvania.

Many cancers and birth defects have been shown to be environmentally caused. For instance, it is estimated that 25 million Americans have been exposed to harmful levels of asbestos. This may include anyone who worked in the following trades prior to 1985:

  • Insulator
  • Welder
  • Electrician
  • Dry Waller
  • Laborer
  • Shipyard
  • Utility
  • Pipefitter
  • Steamfitter
  • Carpenter
  • Tile setter
  • Ironworker
  • Railroad
  • Refinery
  • Sheet metal
  • Bricklayer
  • Boilermaker
  • Painter
  • Auto mechanic
  • Longshoreman

The following cancers have been causally related to asbestos exposure:

  • Mesothelioma lung
  • Laryngeal stomach
  • Throat esophageal
  • Colon rectal

Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer which may affect the lining (pleura) or the abdominal contents (peritoneum). Overwhelmingly, most mesotheliomas are caused by occupational exposure to asbestos. There are reports of housewives developing mesothelioma from laundering their husband’s asbestos-contaminated work clothes.

Throat Cancer includes all forms of cancer affecting the upper respiratory tract, including nasal, nasopharyngeal, laryngeal, and esophageal. In 2006, an expert governmental panel concluded that throat (laryngeal) cancer is linked to asbestos exposure. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) panel concluded that results from 34 studies show that people exposed to asbestos have an average 40% greater chance of developing throat cancer. Some people with high exposure had up to double to triple the risk.

If you or someone you know worked in any of the listed trades, or has been diagnosed with any of the listed diseases, they may be entitled to substantial compensation. They should consult with an attorney right away.

Asbestos can also cause non-cancerous scarring of the lungs such as Pleural Thickening and Pulmonary Fibrois (asbestosis).

If you or someone you know worked in any of the listed trades, or has been diagnosed with any of the listed diseases, they may be entitled to substantial compensation. They should consult with an attorney right away.

If you or someone you know is taken or has taken one of the listed drugs and has suffered a harmful side-effect, then you or they may be entitled to substantial compensation.
